2012 Ha Long tourism week to be held


The 2012 Ha Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week will be held from April 22 to May 2, announced Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee on April 3.

The Tourism Week will cover a wide array of cultural, tourism, and sporting activities, including art perfomances and a food festival, as well as Tuan Chau International women’s beach volleyball, national beach sepak takraw and national dance championships. All of activities will combine traditional and modern styles.

Two exhibitions are also scheduled to be held during the week – the first a photography exhibition and the second to showcase relics and antiques related to Ha Long Bay.

The highlight of the week will be the 2012 Ha Long Carnival at Bai Chay Tourist area in the evening of May 1. The evening will honour and promote cultural values and the tourism potential of Quang Ninh province and Ha Long Bay.

Hoa Lu Festival 2012 opens


The 2012 Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Festival celebrating 1,044 years since Dinh Tien Hoang became king of Vietnam kicked off in Truong Yen commune, Ninh Binh province on March 29.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Bui Van Nam attended the event along with representatives from departments and agencies in Ninh Binh.

This year’s festival marks the 1,044th year since Dinh Bo Linh, who was crowned King Dinh Tien Hoang, defeated 12 warlords to unite the country and named it Dai Co Viet.

Tourism push in coastal region


The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on Jan. 30 launched a year-long series of activities within the National Tourism Year in the northern central coastal area for 2012. 

With the theme "Hue-Old Citadel-New Experience", the programme will incorporate the performance of Hue songs and “nha nhac cung dinh” Hue ( Hue royal court music), which has been recognised as a world intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. Traditional games, art installations and carnivals will also be held as part of the programme.

Tourists will be welcomed to witness the week-long schedule, which includes the Huyen Tran Temple Festival and a ceremony where people pray for the country's prosperity and peace. A film festival and tree planting festival will also be held in the province.

Director of the provincial culture department Phan Tien Dung said there will be 20 major cultural events organised throughout the year, 12 of which will be held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 

New Year 2012 arts programme held in Hue


An arts performance to promote the image of Hue to both domestic and foreign visitors was held yesterday at the Thua Thien – Hue Culture and Information Centre.

The event kicks off a series of cultural and tourism activities for the National Tourism Year – Hue and the Hue Festival 2012, and is also part of the activities to welcome the New Year 2012 and the following Lunar New Year.

Passionate songs and melodies extolling the beauty of Hue were performed during the programme, which drew the participation of many famous singers such as Van Khanh, Quang Linh, and Long Nhat, along with Thanh Le, Anh Tho, Hoang Duc and Cam Nhung.

National Tourism Year to highlight Hue festival


Hue Festival, the annual international event being held for seventh time in the northern central coastal province of Thua Thien-Hue, will be the highlight of Vietnam's National Tourism Year 2012.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province on Nov. 23 held a press conference in Hanoi to announce the National Tourism Year 2012 programme and the schedule for Hue Festival.

Hue Festival will be held from April 7 to 15, 2012, and be the first major event of the tourism year.

The festival will include key events including the Imperial Night, Oriental Night, Nam Giao ritual offering, a grand show of traditional dress, installation art displays, a children's festival, the Hue Poetry Festival, and food days. 

Leading up to Hue Festival 2012


Hue Festival 2012 with the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development – rendezvous of historic cities” will take place from 7 to 15 April, 2012. This event attaches to National Tourism Year 2012 organized by Thua Thien – Hue Province to build Hue as Festival City and affirm Thua Thien – Hue is one of Viet Nam’s culture and tourism centers.
Currently, 23 art troupes from 13 countries and territories have registered to attend the Hue Festival 2012, including France, England, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, India, Mexico, United States, Philippines, Russia, South Africa. The domestic art troupes are also preparing actively and choosing special acts for festival. 

2012 Hue Festival to open in April


As many as 23 art troupes from 12 countries around the world have registered to participate in the Hue Festival, scheduled to take place April 7-15, 2012. 

Deputy Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee and head of the Festival’s organising board, Ngo Hoa, said the event, with the theme "Cultural Heritage Combined with Economic Development and International Integration," will open National Tourism Year 2012.

Highlights of the festival will include the Nam Giao Offering Ritual, an Ao Dai (Traditional Dress) Grand Show, Royal Night, Legends of the the Huong (Perfume) River and Oriental Night.

Thua Thien-Hue to host National Tourism Year 2012


The National Tourism Year 2012 themed “Hue-Ancient capital city-New experiences” will be held in central Thua Thien-Hue Province. The event is expected to promote Vietnam’s tourism products and cultural heritages, attract more foreign tourists and boost domestic tourism. 

Hue Festival – a quintessential biennial event of Vietnamese cultural heritages – will be the major cultural draw card.

Lying on the north-south railway and main road connected to Laos and northeastern Thailand and with the Phu Bai International Airport and the Chan May Seaport, Thua Thien-Hue Province will be a stopover for central and nationwide tourists.
